The Beginning
Hi, my name is Sourabh. I am an Electrical Engineer who loves video games. With the ongoing situation with the pandemic, I am in a tough spot. Having quit my job at the worst of times and lockdown forcing us all indoors. I have one day decided to pursue something that I have always been really passionate about...Videogames. I have been interested in video games ever since I was a kid. And with the lockdown in effect, I am currently stuck in my home. The job hunting has stalled and the dire circumstances have adversely affected me. So I decided to pursue something that I love for my own sanity.
Installed unity, which was a pain by the way, but somehow I got it all working. Binged youtube for tutorials from the amazing unity developer community. Finally learned the basics. I really enjoy this now. Although it has been only a short while.
Being an Electrical engineer I wanted to make a game that incorporated my field somehow. But the development of that unnamed game has been halted due to some technical difficulties..aka coding challenges lol.
The next game was a minimalist platformer game. Initially, I liked it. I worked on it and polished it and in the end, I thought I wanted more. So I changed the minimalist platformer into a platformer story-driven game. But this time I went in the other direction too much and bit something that I couldn't immediately chew. Now to finish this game, it would take a bit more of my time. I wanted quicker results and wanted to launch a game on android ASAP. Probably not great to rush. So, I decided to make a simple hyper casual game for android to test the water and catch all the caveats.
This time I had the name "Orange Dash". A minimalist endless runner. Something that tests your reflex and speed. It is available on Android and I hope you like it. The game does have ads but it is optional and is not forced on the players. However, I would greatly appreciate it if you could watch an occasional ad. I decided to monetize it to raise funds for my mother's healthcare and me, currently being unemployed is just more pain to endure.
Thank you for reading this far. I hope I see you again here. This was my first blog post so I wanted to tell something about myself first. In the next post onwards, I will share more of my game dev journey, pitfalls, issues, bugs, etc. here. And I will share more about the games that I am working on. See you.
Sourabh
